Your Child’s First Jiu-Jitsu Class at Northbound

Parent first class guide

Here’s how your child’s first class starts.

The first visit should feel calm, not rushed. Park behind the building, come in through the back, and head upstairs. We’ll be right at the top of the stairwell and we’ll help your child settle in.

Getting inside

Bring your child in a few minutes early so they can see the room before class starts.

01

Park behind the building

There’s loads of parking in the back lot. You won’t enter through the front.

02

Use the back door

The back door is usually open. If you’re unsure, call or text and we’ll help you in.

03

Go to the second floor

Take the stairs up. The academy is on the second floor.

04

We’re at the top

You’ll find us right at the top of the stairwell. We’ll greet you and help your child get comfortable.

What your child needs

No uniform purchase and no special prep. Comfortable is the goal for the first visit.

01

Comfortable clothes

A t-shirt and shorts or leggings are enough. Avoid zippers, buttons, and hard pockets.

02

Water

Bring a bottle. We’ll keep the first class steady and low-pressure.

03

We’ll have a gi

If your child wants to wear one, we’ll have a clean trial gi ready.

What parents can expect

We’ll help your child meet the coach, understand where to stand, and start at a pace that makes sense. They don’t need experience, and they don’t need to prove anything on the first day.

Questions before you come?

If your child is nervous, if you’re not sure which class fits, or if you need help finding the entrance, call or text the academy.
